      SAUNDERS, EDWIN L. – The death of Mr. Edwin (Eddie) Leroy Saunders, husband of the late Lois (Jones) Saunders, of Welsford, NB, occurred on Friday, March 08, 2002, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Quispamsis, NB, he was the son of the late Valentine and Bessie (Sargeson) Saunders. He was employed with the Department of Transportation in Welsford and Renforth, from where he retired after 39 years. He was a member of the Masonic Order, Sunbury Lodge #42, Fredericton Junction, NB. He was a former member of the Eastern Star, and was also a member of St. Luke’s Parish, Welsford. Eddie enjoyed working with machinery, lumbering, hunting, and fishing. He also enjoyed horses. He is survived by his two sons, Everette (Cheryl) Saunders and Brian (Geraldine) Saunders, both of Welsford, his one daughter, Yvonne "Vonnie" (Mrs. Silas Kirkpatrick) of Hoyt, NB, three brothers, Myron Saunders (special friend, Olivia Howe) of Welsford, Ron Saunders of Stoney Creek, ON, and Everett Saunders of Nasonworth, NB, one sister, Hazel Cooper of Saint John, NB, five grandchildren, Alex and Brad Saunders, Jennifer (Mrs. Jean-Guy Babineau), Holly Saunders, and Roxane Saunders (Special friend, Peter Price), three great-grandchildren, Noah, Ben, and Franchesca, as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Lois, his parents, and several brothers and sisters.
       Resting at Bay View Select Community Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John, NB, (506) 634-7425, with visitation on Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Monday, March 11, 2002 at 11:00 AM from St. Luke’s Anglican Church, Welsford, NB. Interment will take place at Clarendon Cemetery, Clarendon, NB. Remembrances to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family. A Masonic service will be held at the funeral home on Sunday at 7:00PM. www.bayviewfh.com
