      Frederick H. Spain, age 84, born on February 19, 1928 in Manchester, NH, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Frances (Kennedy) Spain.
       He was predeceased by his infant son Frederick Jr.; his parents Walter and Lillian (Erickson) Spain, and his brother Walter Spain Jr. of Manchester, NH.
       Born and raised in Manchester, NH, he graduated from St. Joseph’s High School, Class of 1946. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the US Army from 1948-1953.
       Upon moving to Connecticut he managed the former Lincoln Dairy on Silver Lane, East Hartford. Subsequent to that he worked for the US Postal Service, retiring in 1989.
       Upon his retirement he obtained his counseling degree and worked as a drug and alcohol counselor at Blue Ridge Treatment Center in Bloomfield, CT. After his retirement he was busy with many fulfilling volunteer positions and part-time jobs, while also enjoying the many activities of his grandchildren.
       Fred also enjoyed a few years of Florida retirement at Kings Point, Sun City Center, FL.
       Interment in St Mary’s Cemetery, East Hartford.
