PORTSMOUTH —
Martha Katherine (Erickson) Cournoyer, 92, died Thursday, April 4, 2002, at the Edgewood Centre in Portsmouth.
She was born March 11, 1910, in Portsmouth, a daughter of the late Henry and Maude (Forrence) Erickson. She attended local schools and for many years worked in the housekeeping and dietary departments at the old Portsmouth Hospital. She also worked at the former Gold Craft Shoe Company and also the former Little Yankee Shoe Company, which were located in Portsmouth.
She was a former Pithian Sister and a former member of the Moose Lodge of Portsmouth. In her leisure time, she loved making afghans. She made one for every member of her family. She was a wonderful housekeeper and took pride in her home and family.
In April of 1933 she married Earl Cournoyer in Kittery, Maine. Her husband died in 1970. She is survived by a stepdaughter, Shirley Erickson of Portsmouth; and two stepgrandchildren, Thomas Erickson of Marietta, Ga., and Ellen Pongrance of Tulsa, Okla. She was predeceased by six sisters and two brothers.
