    • Charles Homan, 14, was killed accidentally when a gun with which he and a companion had been playing exploded as the latter handed it to Homan with hammer raised. The gun was discharged by the transfer, the bullet taking effect in Homan’s forehead. The boy was rushed to the hospital by police but died en route.

      Charles Homan – Fatal Accident at Home of His Friend
       One more life has been claimed by careless handling of a loaded revolver, according to police, with the death last night, of Charles Homan 14, 2411 K street, who was almost instantly killed when a gun with which he and a companion had been playing exploded as the latter handed it to Homan.
       With John Baker, 14, 4709 South Twenty-senventh street, Homan had tried to fit a .32 caliber cartridge a .38 caliber revolver. Police Captain Russell stated Baker handed gun to Homan with hammer raised and the gun was discharged by the transfer, the bullet taking effect in Homan’s forehead. The boy was rushed to the South Side hospital by police but died en route.
       The shooting occurred at the home of Orville Steel, Twenty-seventh and [...], a friend. The dead boy is survived by his father at Dow City, grandmother, Mrs. C. Akofer whith whom he made his home, and a sister, Lois, 12.
