Mrs. Effie M. Houpt 76, 204 S. 6th st., was found dead in her home Friday afternoon after an apparent heart attack.
Mrs. Houpt was born in Mount Morris township, Ogle county, daughter of William and Alice Swingley Rowe. She was married in 1908 to Alva Houpt, who died previously. They farmed until 1942 when they retired and moved to Oregon.
Surviving are two sons, Edgar and Lester, both of Oregon; a daughter, Mrs. Elsie Watts, Oregon; five grandchildren; and two brothers, Ben and Morris Rowe, both of Mount Morris.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Farrell funeral home. The Rev. Paul R. Bollman, pastor of St. Paul’s Lutheran church, will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery, Mount Morris. Friends may call in the funeral home Sunday afternoon and evening.
