VERO BEACH, Fla. — Sheldon S. Coe, 95, died May 11, 2012. He was born April 9, 1917, in Washington, D.C. He grew up in Brookings, South Dakota and graduated from South Dakota State University in 1939. He was the owner and president of Industrial Display Company in Elkhart, Ind. He moved to Vero Beach in 1981.
Following the war, Mr. Coe was a long time resident of Elkhart, Indiana where he was owner and president of Industrial Display Company. He was a licensed ham radio operator and a private air pilot. He enjoyed boating, fishing and photography
Sheldon and Valeria moved to Vero Beach, Florida in 1981.
Surviving are his wife of 72 years, Valeria, his daughter, Kathryn Word (William) of Arvada, Colorado, granddaughters, Megan Lane (Kendrick) of Denver, Colorado and Laura Pickford (Brett) of Parker, Colorado and three great grandchildren, Clara, Owen and Caleb and his sister, Margaret Hutcheon of Fairfax, Virginia.
Burial will be in Black Hills National Cemetery, Sturgis, S.D. A memorial service will be at the Indian River Estates auditorium May 17, 2012, at 3:30 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home & Crematory in Vero Beach.
