      BANKS, Gordon Chute — 75, Waterville, Kings County, died May 8, 1994, in Western Kings Memorial Hospital, Berwick. Born in Waterville, he was a son of the late Henry and Gyneth (Chute) Banks.
       He had attended Acadia University and owned and operated Orchard Hill Farm, a family owned farm since 1880, for 50 years, retiring in 1987. On November 2, 1988, he received the Outstanding Services Certificate on the 25th anniversary of the economic planning board from The Hon. John M. Buchanan. He was a member and instructor of the Waterville St. John Ambulance Brigade; member and retired chief of Waterville and District Volunteer Fire Department and recently honored for 48 years of service; member of Waterville fire fighters choir; honorary member of Nova Scotia Vegetable Growers Association and Nova Scotia Fruit Growers Association. He represented the vegetable industry for the Annapolis Valley Agricultural Employment Services; was a member of Nova Scotia Bow Hunters Association and an avid sportsman.
       He is survived by his wife, the former Pauline Margeson; son, Kim, Waterville; three daughters, Sandra (Mrs. John MacLean), Lorraine (Mrs. Edward Raymond), both of Halifax; Beverlee (Mrs. Andre Beaudet), Montreal; sister, Marjorie (Mrs. Ward Hallman), Pictou; 11 grandchildren.
       He was predeceased by a brother, John (Jack).
       Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in H.C. Lindsay Memorial Chapel, Berwick. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Waterville Baptist Church, Pastor Ralph Lepore and Rev. Leo Fletcher officiating. Burial will be in Berwick Cemetery. Donations may be made to Waterville and District Volunteer Fire Department Building Fund.
