Donald E. Marchant, 85 of Bacon St., Waltham and formerly of Maynard, died Sunday, October 23 at the E.N. Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford. He was born in Concord, son of the late William E. and Hannah (Clowry) Marchant. He was the husband of Doris Marion Marchant and a resident of Waltham since 1980.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy. He graduated from Maynard High School class of 1944 and later graduated from the New England School of Art. He owned his own sign business - Marchart Hayward Signs of South Acton. He was a life member and past commander of the American Legion Post 235 in Maynard, a past member of the Maynard Country Club, and past vice president and honorary life member of the Massachusetts Sign Association.
In addition to his wife, he leaves a son Randolph Marchant of Westminster, a daughter Vicki Phillips of Richmond, NH; two granchildren: Sasha Marchant and Ja’net Marchat and two great-granddaughters: Elese and Miley. He also leaves two sisters: Priscilla Mayer of Arlington, VA and Barbara Killoran of York Beach, ME.
A graveside funeral service will be held Saturday, October 29 at 11:00 AM in the Glenwood Cemetery, corner of Route 117 and 27, Maynard. Rev.
