      HAWES, Verne Entered into eternal rest on the afternoon of April 2, 2005, Verne Allen Hawes, Jr., husband of Sally Needle Hawes. Residence, Mt. Pleasant, S.C. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Verne Allen Hawes, Jr., are invited to attend the funeral service of the former at the graveside in Beth Elohim Cemetery, "Huguenin Avenue," Tuesday, April 5, 2005, at 11 o’clock. Mr. Hawes, Jr., was born February 8, 1933, in Saginaw, Mich., the son of Verne Allen Hawes, Sr., and Ruby Marchant Hawes. He was a member of Temple Beth Elohim. Mr. Hawes, Jr., was a retired educator with private and independent schools for 45 years as head master and assistant principal. He served as Head Master at Interlochen Art Academy, Interlochen, Mich.; Raven Croft School, Raleigh, N.C.; The Lovett School, Atlanta, Ga.; University School of Jackson, Hollywood, S.C.; and most recently served as Assistant Principal at Addelstone Hebrew Academy, Charleston, S.C. He was a member and president of Creekside Neighborhood Association in Mt. Pleasant, S.C., a former member of Rotary International, and a member of Southern Association of Head Masters.
       He is survived by his wife of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; four daughters, Rachel Needle Hawes of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., Ellen Hawes Grover and husband Todd of Bend, Oreg., Carrie Hawes Sanchez and husband Tom of Woodbridge, Va., Jill Hawes Culotta and husband Jack of Ft. Collins, Colo.; two sisters, Ginny H. Roggman and husband Clarence of Richmond, Va., Verna H. Wressell and husband Leo of Saginaw, Mich.; five grandchildren, Shea Culotta of Ft. Collins, Colo., Finn Culotta of Ft. Collins, Colo., Nora Sanchez of Woodbridge, Va., Erin Sanchez of Woodbridge, Va., Evan Grover of Bend, Oreg.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
       He is predeceased by a sister, Helen H. Maturn.
