WRESSELL, Mrs. Verna M., of Saginaw, Michigan. Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away Saturday, June 4, 2011 at Fairview Nursing Home in Grand Ledge, Michigan. Age 87 years. The daughter of the late Vern and Ruby (Marchant) Hawes, Verna was born March 25, 1924 in Lynn, Massachusetts. She married Leo A. Wressell on September 6, 1939. He predeceased her January 4, 2008. Verna was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church. She was very active in the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and John Moore Elementary School PTA. Verna was a member of the Junior Reading Club and the Quilting Group at St. John Vianney.
Surviving are two daughters, three sons and their spouses, Richard and Eva Wressell, Patricia and Ron Maul, Barbara and Phil Henshaw, Robert Wressell and Jackie Beam; Charles and Jackie Wressell; a son-in-law Terry Kanary; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; her sister, Virginia Roggman; several nieces and nephews.
Verna was preceded in death by her daughter, Sandra Kanary, one sister and one brother.
Funeral Liturgy will take place 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. James Carlson will officiate with interment in St. Andrew Cemetery. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd., (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at St. John Vianney Catholic Church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass. The Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
