      “Died ov Wounds.”
      While advancing with his company toward enemy positions near Rosieres on August 9, 1918, he was hit by a machine gun bullet. He was given first aid and then taken to a dressing station, from there evacuated to #48 Casualty Clearing Station where he died four days later.
