      GENESEO — Edward V. "Ed" Lambin, 84, Geneseo, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at Trinity Rock Island Emergency Room.
       Funeral services celebrating Ed’s life will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at First Presbyterian Church, Geneseo. Rev. Dr. David Esche will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo, where military honors will be accorded by the Don Cherry VFW Post 5083. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday at Vandemore Funeral Homes and Cremation Services Ltd., Geneseo. Memorials may be left to the Edward Lambin Memorial Fund and will be distributed amongst several local charities.
       Ed was born Jan. 29, 1929, in Melcher, Iowa, the son of Jules and Zelia (Herndon) Lambin. He was a graduate of Alpha High School and was united in marriage to Donna L. Hanmer on Dec. 31, 1950, in Coal Valley. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. In 1955 Ed started the Lambin Jewelry Store in Geneseo, which he owned and operated until his retirement in 1997. Ed also drove a school bus for Pinks Bus Service in Geneseo for 45 years.
      Ed was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Geneseo, where he was an Elder at the Church. He belonged to the Geneseo Moose Lodge 990, the Iowa-Illinois Treasure Hunters, and was a board member of the Geneseo Marriage and Counseling Service. He enjoyed metal detecting, as well as hunting, fishing, camping and collecting coins. Ed was a Chicago Cubs fan.
       Survivors include his wife, Donna; two daughters, Toni (Rick) Quayle of Geneseo and Kelli (Jim) Williams of Geneseo; two sons, Bob Lambin and Ron Lambin, both of Geneseo; eight grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; one sister, Susie (Charles "Coke") Carlson of Rio; and one brother, Alfred (Joanne) Lambin of Galva.
       Ed was preceded in death by his parents; his first grandchild, Maice Quayle; two brothers; and one sister.
