      HAMPTONGeorge M. Palmer, 76, of 64 Anns Lane, died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2001, at his home.
       He was born in Newburyport, Mass., on Oct. 18, 1925, a son of the late Ezra and Olive May (Wyles) Palmer. He was a graduate of Amesbury, Mass., High School and Franklin Tech of Boston, Mass. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Force as a staff sergeant with the 409th Bombardment Squadron, 93rd Bombardment Group. He later served in the Korean War with the U.S. Air Force.
       He was employed by Simplex Wire and Cable in Newington and retired in 1986 as manufacturing plant manager after 32 years of service.
       He moved to Hampton in 1997, having come from Estero, Fla., where he had lived for 10 years. Prior to that he had lived in Amesbury, Mass., and Exeter.
       He was a former communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Amesbury and St. Michael Church in Exeter and had been active in the Lions Club in Estero, Fla.; Amesbury, Mass.; and Exeter, where he was a past president. He was also a former member of Warren Lodge A.F.&A.M. of Amesbury.
       He was predeceased by his first wife, Ruth (Wilson) Palmer, and by a brother, Gerald Palmer.
       Family members include his wife, Annette D. (Gonthier) Palmer; one daughter, Corrine Gilman and her husband, David, of Boxford, Mass.; two stepsons, William Drew of Amesbury and Robert Drew of Manchester; two stepdaughters, Lorraine Drew of Lebanon, N.H., and Suzanne Casey of West Newbury, Mass.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
