The son of Clifford and Vera (Knapp) Gallup. He graduated from Leaf River High School and entered the Army in December, 1943, serving with General MacArthur’s headquarters in the Philippines and Japan until April, 1946. He worked the family farm with his brother and retired from the Post Office having been a rural mail carrier for forty years. He was a longtime member of Egan United Brethren Church and then a member of North Grove Christian Church. He loved to fish and travel, but his real passion was bowling and golf.
