      FORT FAIRFIELD and CASCO — Robert S. Doughty Sr. 89 died Jan 21 1998 at the Bridgton Health Care Center, where he was temporarily residing due to the power outage in that area.
       He was born April 15, 1908 at Fort Fairfield, the son of William H. and Janet (Coes) Doughty. Mr. Doughty was a lifelong resident of Fort Fairfield and was a self-employed carpenter for many years. After retiring, he spent his time traveling fishing and writing short stories, of which two were published. For the last 15 months, he had been living with his, son Dale in Casco.
       He was predeceased by his wife of 39 years Gertrude M. (Sprague) Doughty in 1968; and his wife of 23 years Frances A. (Cox) Wortman Doughty in 1992.
       Mr. Doughty is survived by four sons, Robert Jr. and his wife, Nadine of Des Moines, Iowa, Dale and his wife, Diana of Casco, Donn and his wife, Priscilla of Fort Fairfield, Earle of Presque Isle; one daughter Linda M. Ireland, of Oqunquit; two stepsons Charles Wortman of Virginia Beach, Va., Brian Wortman of Beachwood, N.B., Canada; three stepdaughters Nita Nickerson and Pam Newcomb, both of Fort Fairfield, Gail Rowe of Boxborough, Mass.; five brothers, Walter, Ralph, Wendell and Charles Doughty, all of Fort Fairfield, Bruce Doughty of Manchester, Conn.; three sisters Helen Clark of Carlingford, N.B., Gertrude Smith and Glenda Hilyard both of Bowdoinham; six grandsons, seven granddaughters, 18 greatgrandchildren, one great-greatgrandchild.
       Friends may call 7-9 pm Saturday Jan 24 1998 at Dorsey Funeral Home 44 Lower Main St, Fort Fairfield. Funeral Services will be conducted 2 pm Sunday Jan 25 at Dorsey Funeral Home with the Rev Robert Smith officiating. Spring interment will be in Riverside Cemetery Fort Fairfield. Friends who wish may contribute in memory of Robert S Doughty Sr to a charity of their choice .
