      FARMINGTON — Carl H. Trask, 71, of Jay, died Sunday, Sept. 9, at Orchard Park Rehabilitation and Living Center.
       He was born Dec. 22, 1935, in Wilton, a son of Harry A. and G. Winnifred (Lake) Trask. He was a 1954 graduate of Wilton Academy and was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Air Force in the mid-1950s. While stationed in Austria, he was a member of the U.S. Olympic Ski Team and competed in Tripoli for the long jump.
       He was a simple man with simple wants. He held a variety of jobs throughout his lifetime, working in carpentry, selling insurance, serving as production control manager at G.H. Bass for 10 years and later purchasing the Wilton Printed Products Co. Eventually, he semi-retired and spent winters in Florida, with his wife, the former Judy Butterfield. He enjoyed fishing, playing golf and cards.
       He had a “best friend” named Breeze, a cat who loved him dearly and accompanied him on walks and had wrestling matches with him daily.
       Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Judy Butterfield Trask of Jay; their daughter, Michelle Cain of Wilton; grandchildren, Jessica and Colby Cain, the lights of his life; great-granddaughter, Isabella; one sister, Jolene Frecker, and her husband, Wesley, of Augusta.
       He was predeceased by his folks; and brothers, Blair and Spencer.
